Reduced physics model of the tokamak Scrape-Off-Layer for pulse design

چکیده
The dynamic interplay between the core and edge plasma has important consequences in confinement heating of fusion plasma. transport Scrape-Off-Layer (SOL) imposes boundary conditions on plasma, neutral through SOL influences sourcing. In order to better study these effects a self-consistent, time-dependent fashion with reasonable turn-around time, reduced model is needed. this paper we introduce Box Model, that calculates temperature density given core-to-edge particle power fluxes recycling coefficients. analytic nature Model allows one readily incorporate physics solvers for pulse design applications control room. Here demonstrate such coupling solver TRANSP compare results measurements, obtained Thomson scattering Langmuir probes, an NSTX discharge. Implications future interpretive predictive simulations are discussed.

متن کاملSimulation of the scrape-off layer region of tokamak devices
Understanding the key processes occurring in the tokamak scrape-off layer (SOL) is becoming of the outmost importance while we enter the ITER era and we move towards the conception of future fusion reactors. By controlling the heat exhaust, by playing an important role in determining the overall plasma confinement, and by regulating the impurity level in tokamak core, the dynamics of the fusion...

◮ We study Scrape-Off Layer (SOL) turbulence through simulations that evolve the plasma dynamics as the interplay of plasma source from the core, perpendicular transport, and losses at the limiter plates ◮ We identify the SOL turbulence regimes, defining the regions of existence of the Ballooning Modes [resistive (RBM) and inertial (IBM)] and the Drift Waves [resistive (RDW) and inertial (IDW)]...

متن کاملPlasma shaping effects on tokamak scrape-off layer turbulence
The impact of plasma shaping on tokamak scrape-off layer (SOL) turbulence is investigated. The drift-reduced Braginskii equations are written for arbitrary magnetic geometries, and an analytical equilibrium model is used to introduce the dependence of turbulence equations on tokamak inverse aspect ratio ( ), Shafranov’s shift (∆), elongation (κ), and triangularity (δ). A linear study of plasma ...
